Subject: [ferrethealth] Gonzo - aka Zo

It has been just a few short weeks since I lost my
little boy, Bear. How is it possible that life would
hand me yet another loss so quickly? Earlier this
evening, I lost my 3 year old boy, Gonzo or Zo for
short. He was only a part of my life for a short time
(less than 2 years), yet he was the most playful
ferret I've ever known. He also gave the sweetest,
nicest kisses ever. He did have a tendency to give a
love bite every now and then, but those kisses were
worth it.
Shortly after Christmas last year, Zo was diagnosed
with dilated cardiomyopathy. He's been on Lasix and
Enalapril for months. He'd been doing fine and we
didn't think it was time to add digoxin yet. Tonight,
I went upstairs to get Zo, so I could feed him and
give him his medicine. I reached for him and when I
picked him up he was already stiff. His little eyes
are closed and he's laying in one of his favorite
sleep positions, so I pray he went in his sleep and
did not suffer.
I, on the other hand, cannot believe the grief and
sorrow in my heart. To have lost two of my precious
babies in such a short amount of time is
heartbreaking.
