Subject: [ferrethealth] Kibble
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hey Guys:
I started posting a question on the effectiveness of melatonin
implants when I hit the send button in error ( did not have my coffee
yet!) I'll finish that post when I see it pop up and know where I
left off.
In the meantime, I am waging a war against insulioma. I HATE
insulinoma. At least adrenal is slow progressing and you have a few
options. Insulinoma is insidious. Anyway, I'm thinking of putting all
my guys on a chicken gravy diet: Chicken gravy twice a day with a
small amount of kibble left out. Here's my questions:
1) How much does a ferret need to eat daily? Would chickrn gravy
twice a day be enough? I vaguely remember Bob Church saying he only
feeds his guys twice a day . . .
2) Is there a low carb kibble out there I can use as a back up. Right
now I use the FerretStore red label.
3) I'm currently only using Nu-bones as treats because they are good
for their teeth. It doesn't say sugar-free on the package but none of
the ingredients sound like sugar to me. I also use Ferretone, and
have started using Vaseline for hairballs instead of Laxatone. Any
comments?
Thanks!
[Moderator's Note:
since I am sure you read labels and that between posts
from the wonderful FHL members and using the archives
http://ferrethealth.org/archive/
you can get the rest I just want to point out that a ferret with
insulinoma should ALWAYS have food handy. Otherwise, the
blood sugar can drop too low.]
