From what I remember- cedar bedding can cause upper respiratory
problems and is not something that should be used. I use old t-
shirts and scraps of fleece for bedding. I use care fresh (the gray
recycled paper that they use as bedding in pet stores) as their
litter in the litter box.

Be careful with vaccinations. Keep a close eye on them for up to 2
hours after the vaccine. One of my guys would always have a bad
reaction to his vaccines, and one day went into anaphalatic shock
(spelling?) and he was vomiting and his heart was beginning to stop
beating, they had to give him an epinephrine shot to get his heart
going again. My other guy never had reactions, and the first one he
had almost killed him, he also needed epinephrine shots...2 of
them. Needless to say, they never gor vaccinations again.

It is not the same case for all ferrets, and I am not trying to
scare anyone- just keep a close eye on them that is all- because
when they do have a reaction, it is scary for both the ferret and
the owner. (my vet was okay with my guys not having rabies
vaccinations because she knew they were never in contact with
anything to get rabbies, and distemper is not common in my area at
all, plus again- they were never in contact with the threat of it-
so it was okay not to vaccinate against it.)

Also- be sure not to do both the rabies and distemper vaccines in
the same day- they should be spaced out by at least 2 weeks from
what I remember.
