Hi Tony,
Has your ferret been x-rayed to look for bladder stones?
If Suiki has calcium oxalate bladder stones, then they will
need to be removed by surgery. During the surgery the bladder
can be cultured to determine if there is a bacterial infection too.
After the stones are removed, have them analyzed to see what
type of stone they are. Your vet can consult with the stone lab
at the University of Minnesota and the stone lab at UC-Davis to
see what diet changes they would recommend and what dose
of potassium citrate (if they are calcium oxalate ) they would
recommend.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM
