Subject: [ferrethealth] ECE - long term case
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I'm getting so confused about ECE. Baby Bear brought it home to us as
a youngster. My other 2 ferrets had some symptoms and got over them.
But we have had Baby for 2 years or so now, and she has grainy poop
almost all the time, sometimes with mucous. But everything I read
seems to say that ECE clears up after a few months or so?

Now someone has blood along with the mucous in their stool. Is this
still ECE? Or an ulcer? How do I know?

By the way, she has always been our chubbiest ferret - constant weight
and a good appetite. Both kibble and some Bob's gravy that our other
ferret eats.

Do I intervene? Or let her manage as she is?

She has been on bouts of antibiotics, pepto and metronidazole more
than once with little or no improvement.

Thank you!
