Subject: [ferrethealth] Can Lung Tissue Be Coughed Up??
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Is it physically possible for a ferret to cough up lung tissue? One
of my little girls was coughing last night and as I watched over her
she coughed out a bloody mess of stuff. There was a chunck of tissue
that looked very spongy. It is about 3/4" x 1/4" in size. I thought
maybe it was foam rubber, but looking under a magnifiying glass it
just doesn't have the same properties. Can this happen?

I have had a problem with a virus going through my gang. It has come
and gone with several, but with 3 of the older ones it is taking it's
toll.

My vet and I have tried combinations of antibiotics to fight it.
Amoxi Drops, Baytril & Amoxi combo, and Climdamycin (nasty stuff!).
Not having much luck. Anyone have any ideas on masking the
bitterness of the Climdamycin? Through our local pharmacy I have
tried banana flavor with some 'bitter suppressent' and it didn't help
much.

One ferret died (a couple months ago) and a necropsy tested positive
for Bordatella. Anyone else ever have to deal with that? Any
suggestions?

Thanks,
Liz
