Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Adrenal treatment
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Both surgeries were very successful. One ferret Willow had an
adrenalectomy on her right gland and is still going strong at 8.5 yrs
old and 2.5 years after the op. and my other ferret, Casper had a
left adrenalectomy but died just over a year later of chronic kidney
failure. At the time if there'd had been a viable alternative, I
would have put Casper on it - but I really believe surgery was the
best option for Willow.
I have their diagnoosis, surgeries and recoveries documented on my
website at www.ferretuk.info under the topic 'Bald Ferrets' which you
may find of interest. Since my first ferret was diagnosed with
adrenal at the time there was very little info in the UK, i've kinda
made it my mission to find out the best treatments in the UK and I
also have a page with lots of UK adrenal info. which is important as
more and more ferrets in the UK are being correctly diagnosed with
adrenal now.
Hoping that all goes well with your ferret and she makes a quick and
full recovery. I would be interested to hear how she does as I have
also included brief case studies of ferrets on different treatments,
and I could add your experience if you would like. I can also be
contacted through my email on my website.
