Subject: [ferrethealth] how to get a ferret to take proglycem
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hello,
Our Chester who is 8.5 has been dx'd with insolnomia and will be taking
pred and proglycem for the duration of his life. He has been taking
pred, and it isn't working very well, hence the additional medication.
Well, he HATES it. I have found nothing that I can hide it in that he
can't taste it. Tonight we tried to just give it to him via syringe
and then feed him afterwards. It was a nightmare, there was sticky
meds on both of us. For an old guy he puts up a really good fight and
he was so miffed at me that he wouldn't eat for me at all. He did eat
for my husband...so I am wondering if those that use this have any
ideas on what I can mix this with to get him to take it? He pretty
much lives on soup now, as often each day as we can feed him. My
husband come home for lunch to feed him so that he isn't going longer
than four hours without eating. I have tried hiding this in his soup
and he just will not eat it. It is compounded, the flavor is tutti
fruitie, and I know it must taste really bad to need to be compounded.
Any ideas that you have would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Kim
