I've never used Ferretlax, but have used Laxatone which I think is the same thing (different company) and the main ingredient is white petrolatum (vaseline). That is what is on the tube. I think using the ferretone is just to give it flavor but if you're using it for a hairball remedy it's probably ok to use, if you're using it for something else you should check with your vet first. I'm not a vet just a long time ferret owner and rescuer. Hope that helps.
