The advantage to using petroleum jelly by itself or with ferretone as a
flavoring is to avoid the sugar that is often found in commercial hairball
remedies. I do recommend it for insulinomic ferrets, but otherwise the commercial
remedies are equally efficacious, if not more so due to their palatability.
