We use Uncle Jim's as a regular part of the soup that our 5 get daily. I've never encountered anything like that, and we've used many dozens of containers of it so far. It used to come in plastic containers, now it comes in cryo-bags, so maybe you have some of an older batch. All 5 of our ferrets are in excellent health, and our older girl Trinny with IBD is doing very well now that the main part of her diet is the soup.
