Hi Claire.=A0 I am so sorry for your loss and your continuing sorrow.
=A0
I had one of my beloved ferrets show almost exactly the same symptoms.=A0 I=
too thought a spinal injury, and my vet treated her with steroids and we d=
id our best to bring her back to health.=A0 She had a few good days where s=
he was walking again a little, but then she deteriorated rapidly.=A0 Being =
a strong willed little creature, she was much too proud to drag herself aro=
und and have me wipe her butt, and she passed away quietly and peacefully i=
n my arms.
=A0
I did an autopsy because I breed and I wanted to know what took her away fr=
om me.=A0 It turns out she had lymphoma (cancer) in her intestines, and par=
t of her intestine had adhesed to the spine, which caused the paralysis.=A0=
There was no surgery possible and nothing I could have done other than wha=
t I did - make her comfortable, love her for a few more days, give her ever=
ything she wanted, and let her slip away.=A0 It is quite likely that is wha=
t your vet saw on the x-ray as a spot and if it was lymphoma, there really =
was nothing more you could have done and the kindest thing was to let your =
little one go.
=A0
I hope that helps.
