I've had the adrenal panel run on a good number of ferrets here and
the test has always been accurate. The panel doesn't actually give a
positive or negative result, it measures hormone levels. Elevated
levels indicate adrenal disease.

Also, degree of symptoms is not necessarily an indicator of how
advanced the disease is. I've had ferrets with few symptoms who where
quite advanced and ferrets with marked symptoms who were not very
advanced at all.
