To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I've had several myself that showed no symptoms until glucose levels
plummeted to below 30. One showed no symptoms even when in the 30's,
his insulinoma was discovered when he went in for adrenal surgery. His
glucose reading at that time was right at 30 and a very large tumor
was found on the pancreas. My vet (who had seen this ferret numerous
times prior) was as shocked as I was. They don't always show typical
signs, same goes for adrenal disease.

As for the treatment you're giving, it will backfire. Giving sugars
does raise glucose levels temporarily however the drop that follows
actually worsens things. Prednisone and frequent high protein meals
will help regulate glucose levels and keep them steady and is the most
common method of treatment.
