Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Ferret with cold?- vet update
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

We went to the vet. Blood glucose was fine. No insulomia. Temp was 104.4
Urine was positive for blood and a few other things.

Outcome was dehydration, pneumonia and urinary tract infection.

She got Sub Q fluids
Amoxi drops for home q 12 hrs
diprone injection for fever
Baytril injection in office and meds to follow up Q 12 hrs
Keep sub Q fluids going at 70 ccs every 24 hrs

We are back home...I had to find Gerber chicken gravy....beechnut is nasty
and lumpy. She ate 5 spoons of gravy, nice poop and pee. She is wrestling
around in her carrier trying to get comfortable for sleep. She is much more
alert.

Vet says I should see improvement within 12-24 hrs and marked improvement at
36 hr mark. We go back to vet for follow up at that time.

He said I did a good job getting her through the weekend.

Thank you for all the suggestions and help.

Toni
