This answers one question....

If the blood test showed low blood glucose, your ferret had
insulinoma. In which case, the symptoms you were seeing (which I would
consider to be connected) were symptoms of insulinoma. Ferrets with
insulinoma may sometimes do seemingly well for periods without
treatment, particularly if fed properly. Your ferret not eating while
being boarded brought on the episodes that occurred while you were
away. The last episode, which happened in your care, was inevitable as
diet only goes so far in warding off a crash. Prednisone, along with
frequent high protein meals, is commonly used to treat ferrets with
insulinoma.

Now, this is not to say there wasn't something else going on as well.
Lymphoma is still a possibility. Your ferret may have had both, but
based on the information you've given I would say it's a safe bet he
did indeed at least have insulinoma.

Of course, only a necropsy would have given you a conclusive answer
but based on the information you've provided this would be my guess.
