Claire,

Once again my condolences on the loss of your beloved fuzzy.

With this new information, I would deduce that he did have insulinoma
and from your descriptions sounds like it was never treated.
Untreated insulinoma can predispose a ferret to chronic ulcers as
well as a host of other physical problems, some of which you have
described. Hypoglycemia is a hallmark clinical symptom of insulinoma
and should have been a red flag to the vet when it was confirmed by
blood work.

I speculate he may have had an insulinomic seizure or hypoglycemic
crash that caused him to fall and injure his spine. I am so very,
very sorry.
