Subject: [ferrethealth] Progress report: Voilet w/mouth breathing cold
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Voilet went to the vet.

Blood sugar was good, Urine showed infection. Temp was 104.4 she was really
panting when we got there. Despite bathing and sub Q fluids at home.

Diagnosis: Dehydration, Fever, Pneumonia and Urinary tract infection.

Treatment: Sub Q fluids, Dipryrone injection, Baytril injection, Amoxi
drops, continue chicken gravy feedings, Ferret RX

She is doing well. No longer floppy, walking and trying to run, is playing
some, very little mouth breathing, still sneezing and trying to keep her nose
clear. Her watery eye is clear now too. She eating well, still refuses
water but is getting sub Q fluids which I will begin weaning her the end of this
week depending on what the vet say at follow up tomorrow. Pee and poop still
look good. She is fighting me to get her Baytril injections every 12 hrs and
hates getting fluids now. This is now considering before I could feed her
and she didn't even notice or care what I was doing.

So we are making improvements.

Thank you to the group and Dr. Jerry!

Toni

[Moderator's Note:
Since people can't mention their treating vets in relation to a case I assume
this is a thank you for advice for FHL member vet, Dr. Jerry Murray, for
advice given due to the FHL posting, though there may be another
FHL Dr. Jerry, too...]
