Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Breeding Season In Southeast
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

You actually aren't far enough south to make that big a difference.=A0 :-)
=A0
The hobs tend to start getting ready in Nov - Jan (it takes some time to ra=
mp up sperm production), and breeding season is really anytime in the early=
spring after that.=A0 Most of the jills start going into season anytime fr=
om late January through May, so spring seems to be primetime.=A0 While late=
or out of season kits can be born, *most* ferrets are done with breeding s=
eason by the summer months.=A0 The hobs usually are coming out of season by=
early summer, and most are done by August, so you get a couple months of f=
un with them before they get really stinky again.=A0 :-)
=A0
You would be safe doing yearly Lupron shots in late spring or early summer,=
if you are trying to time it to when the ferrets' hormones would naturally=
be decreasing as they phase out of season on their own, whether or not the=
y've had kits.
=A0
Hope that helps.
