Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret Weight Loss
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

We have a sweet little ferret, Sandy, who's two years old. She is eating and drinking fine, playing, and has normal stools and urination. However, she is steadily and drastically losing weight. We've had blood tests, stool tests for parasites and bacteria, and numerous useless visits to veterinarians who have said she is fine.

The veterinarians say, "Don't worry, It's just seasonal weight loss." Well this "seasonal weight loss" is, we're afraid, going to be the end of her. She does not exhibit the obvious signs of adrenal disease. She resembles a snake instead of a ferret because she's so thin - her shoulder bones, spine, and hip bones obviously protrude from her body. You can feel each and every rib she has.

We're very worried and would like to hear from anyone who has either experienced this, or anyone who may have any idea what could be going on.

We look forward to your replies, you're help would be greatly appreciated.

Sue and Drew
