I can't guess at the cause, outside of possibly ulcers, but I can suggest that you supplement some Ferretvite daily. It's high in calories and vitamins and can only help.

FYI, we have a boy who's also about 2 years old (Morphy), who right now is very thin. I call him a cucumber with legs. But he's as healthy as a ferret can possibly be, eats and drinks plenty, and is full of energy. At some times of the year he fills out more, and almost looks a little husky, and at other times he looks like the ferret version of a marathon runner. I'm not suggesting that you ignore any possible problems with Sandy, but some ferrets do change drastically throughout the year, then change back.
