Subject: [ferrethealth] ZD allergy food/diarrhea question
To: Ferret Health <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>, FERRET-L automatic digest system <listserv@listserv.ferretmailinglist.org>

I have a question about anyone whose had their ferret on any type of allerg=
y food for IBD.=A0=A0My 1 1/2 yr old ferret, Gus, has had off and on again =
diarrhia for the past several months.=A0=A0If its not diarrhia, its really=
=A0soft and runny.=A0 He's constantly eating cuz he's constantly at the toi=
let.=A0 I've tried a number of things:=A0 non-chicken food, chicken baby fo=
od, non-chicken babyfood, Vivify, Clay, a few antibiotics, probiotics...=A0=
and now the vet has got him on Science Diet Allergy ZD food.=A0 He said do=
the food change slowly, which I did, and now he's fully on the ZD food (& =
he has been for a few days), and its gone back to watery diarrhea again.=A0=
=A0 I asked the vet, since its changed to the worse, should I take him off =
it?=A0 He said no, to try Immodium (which isnt helping), and give the food =
2 months to see if it works.=A0
=A0
So, my question is for anyone whose ferret has to be on some type of allerg=
y food, did you see it go from bad to worse, and if it did work, how long b=
efore they had normal stools again?=A0
=A0
This has been going on for too long with my poor little guy, and I'm reluct=
ant to give this 2 months if it is *not* normal to see the stools go from b=
ad to worse.=A0 Thanks for any help or input!!=A0 Gus and I appreciate it!
