Our Trinny (somewhere around age 6) was diagnosed with IBD after several months of bad poops that varied wildly but were rarely good. After much trial and error, we now have the IBD under control almost all the time. She is on a low dose of Prednisolone daily (0.30 ml, 5 mg/ 15 ml), which I've found is necessary to control it. Also, as part of the daily soup that I feed all five of our ferrets, I include slippery elm bark powder, and about once a week, some extra acidophilus. The rest of the soup is Uncle Jim's, a little ferretone, and either Gerbers Stage 2 Turkey baby food or Evo canned 95% meat rabbit. I also alternate with canned pumpkin, one week on, one week off, adding a small amount to the soup. I think the key to controling the IBD is the Pred and the slippery elm bark powder. She does eat kibble at times during the day, Totally Ferret, and it doesn't bother her at all.
