Hello Patrice
No using a diuretic like Lasix or Salix does
not help with a pred belly. (We sometimes do use
a diuretic with pred when they also have a heart problem.)
The pred belly is actually extra fat that is being deposited
into the abdomen. Most of the time they will also have fat
pads on the sides of the neck and some times in the
armpit area. Now that you have stopped the pred it will
take time to lose the fat (aka pred belly). More exercise
and play time will help to burn up the fat and solve the
pred belly problem.
Unfortunately if Chaco has Pemphegus he will likely need
pred again in the future.
Hope that helps,
Jerry Murray, DVM
