Kim, it seems to me that I read recently that vicks is not a good thing to use around ferrets. I could be wrong tho but don't think I'd try it without checking with a vet first. The steam probably wouldn't hurt tho. I was going to suggest another vet but I see you're already ahead of me. Good for you. I would be worried about pneumonia or something along that line. Not a vet and hope you find out soon what is happening to your little ones.
Hope you find out what is wrong and they all improve very soon.
