Subject: [ferrethealth] Sick Ferret.....
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have a 6-7 year old male who has normally been a somewhat active
ferret but sleeps a lot. Recently we rescued three healthy ferrets
and brought them home. Now today he has been inactive, noticed what
appears to be red bloody loose almost gelatinous stools, along with a
dry nose from my 6-7 year old ferret. Our 3-4yo rescue ferret that
has been with him for awhile is by his side trying to groom him,
etc... Any ideas on what could be going on??? We don't have a vet
around here that will see Ferrets and the only one close by really
knows nothing about them and charges an arm and a leg to tell you
"they will be fine" because she really doesn't know about them but
wont turn them away due to morals (was informed this by one of her vet
techs)

[Moderator's Note: This ferret needs a vet.
Go to:
http://ferrethealth.org/vets/
and travel if you have to.

Approximately where are you? Members may have
recommendations for you. They can recommend
vets here, just not mention names and cases together.

It is not unusual for vets who don't know ferrets (yet)
to consult with other vets and to open text books since
there are quite a few ferret vet texts now.]
