Subject: [ferrethealth] Food With Metacam
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Thank you to the vets who responded to this question, including one who
responded directly to me. The recommendation is to give Metacam with
food. Now, I need to ask my vet why he never told me that. I'm
thinking it "could" be becaue I have never given it long-term.
Normally, we give it prior to surgery and for a couple of days
afterward. We have given it for other procedures for 2-3 days. My boy
with the urine blockage is on a very low dose once a day (yes, he's
still completely blocked, a full 48 hours after being given Lupron),
but I'm not sure how long I will be giving it, but will assume I will
continue it as long as he is blocked. I will definitely start giving
him a little soup with his daily dose.

I'm glad this came up.
