Subject: [ferrethealth] New Ferret with a foul smell!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

We recently aquired a new ferret, 2yrs old, not desexed, male and
smells horrible! We gave him a bath with ferret shampoo and bought him
all new bedding, but he still smells!!! He came with a box of Fish
flavoured cat food, so I am to assume his smell is caused by his
seafood based diet. Does this contribute to a ferrets smell? I have 2
other ferrets, that are desexed, and smell like roses who are fed on a
premium diet with thier bedding washed regularly, I would love to
achieve this with our new furby.
Our new ferret is also quite nippy, and Im sure if he could, he would
draw blood if he caught a finger! While I know he will settle in
eventually, he gets quite nippy when excited ( And I mean LOTS of
dooking!) He is quite nippy and over excited towards my other 2
ferrets, so much that I dont want to introduce them without bars
between them. While I have only had him 3 days, and I know nothing of
his history, does this eventually settle?
Cheers
Karen
