Subject: [ferrethealth] Strange wasteing illness,
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I was going down to a rescue to get a new fuzzy friend and my mate
decided to take a few ferrets aswell. She took on 4 ferrets that were
really old (5-9) Afew days after her golden oldies were home the blond
boy (fuzzle became ill) As it was her birthday i took him with me and
she went for a drink. The next morning she went home to fine the other
ferrets really ill, they all got the same treatment at the vet two have
survived two nevever made it ( Rip rose and beth) Now it looks like one
of my older ferrets (5) has come down with it.

The vet has no idea what it is.
Symtoms: to cold to regester on a thomomiter, lost a lot of waight
verry fast! Runny poops, loss of apitite, back end weakness.

Munch is currantly 600grams he's normaly quite a big boy. He looks so
pathetic, i have baytrill for him and hills a/d he's got hot watter
bottle and im wakeing him up to make sure he eats. He can eat him self.

My friends ferrets started like that then had to get sub q fluids
warmed up and amoxicillin, with the hills a/d.

It cost her over =A3200 and we are still no closer to knowing whats going
on.

Any ideas, the vet suggested worms. Our ferrets dont get much meat but
thats what they were fed on down south. The vet also thinks the cat has
worms and he's not.
I will when i find out what i can give them worm all the ferrets anyways
