In truth there is NO good ferret food to buy from Walmart that will
offer your ferret optimum health, unless you delve into the natural
diet; and you'd be purchasing foods from the grocery section of
walmart. Feeding a natural diet means more research and attention to
detail than just pouring a dishful of kibble. You can get info on
natural feeding ,if you choose, from another yahoo group - Natural
Ferrets, now at www.naturalferrets.com

Petco at least will offer ferret foods from Totally Ferret, which as
far as kibble diets go are at least geared towards ferret's needs. In
kibbles, I'd recommend the Turkey/Venison/Lamb mix from Totally ferret
also mixed with their Totally ferret baby Formula.

Most folks feeding kibble recommend mixing 3 to 4 varieties of kibbles
to keep the ferret interested in eating as well as avoiding imprinting
on one brand that if the store runs out could mean your ferret goes on
a hunger strike!

There is no such thing as cheap food that will keep your ferret
healthy! Investing in quality food will keep your ferret healthy and
cost less in the long run when you consider longevity, quality of life
and vet care.

Avoid at all costs cheap cat food and dog food as well as ANY kibbles
that contain artificial flavors, high corn content and artificial
colors as well as fruits, vegetables and fruit juices.

Ordering from the internet is often much less expensive than from a
store, as well as a time saver and a gas saver. Plus you have a much
larger selection to choose from.

Cheers,
Kim
