I have found that sometimes you need to give a very large dose of
Lupron the first time to jump-start things. I have given as much as a
2mg, 4 months depot, which is the equivalent of 500mcg per month.
That being said, if he is still straining after this long, I would
consider having adrenal surgery done.
In the meantime, be prepared for him to totally block and know that is
a life and death emergency. Do you have an after-hours ER vet nearby
who can handle a total blockage? Having just gone through this, trust
me, you want to avoid this at all costs!!
