Subject: [ferrethealth] Rare findings or not so
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Dr Murray and I have been in private communication over Leizl's
pathology report and he has determined that the pathologist found
a(non FIP related) cancer.
I will still bring the report to Pittburgh to show to Dr Williams if
interested.
[Moderato's Note:
This refers to Dr. Murray's reply to Joan's first
post here before she entered the results of the
finalized pathology report.
The FIP-like coronavirus that ferrets get which
has been genetically determined to be a mutant
of ECE is also a cause of the rare presentation of
abdominal granulomatous lesions in ferrets.
Please, note that the ferret illness is FIP- LIKE,
but it is NOT FIP. That's just a reminder for all.
At first it was not known if it was a mutation
from FIP or from ECE, but that work has been
done and the abstract is in the FHL Archives.
It is an ECE mutant, NOT an FIP mutant.]
