Subject: [ferrethealth] Re overweight and starved ferrets

I would say so long as you now put him on a normal diet, same as you others, and he has plenty of opportunity for exercise his weight should even out. after a period of being so underweight his body is over compensating by laying down fat for a future period of starvation.

By the way in the UK we usually advise that kits, and I would still class him as a kit, are fed raw meat, with bone in, two or three times a day even if you are planning on feeding kibble the rest of their lives. This gives them a really good start with good bone development etc.
