Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Melatonin, adrenal panel, Lupron and cardiac?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Allo,
Thank you so much Dr Murray for your answer

(REF of my primary post :
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ferrethealth/message/7303 )

I did print your answer and gave it to Nahum's vet.

Nahum's vet have contacted Dr X [Name removed as per rules].
Dr X only use melatonin
implant on dogs. So Nahum's vet was not able to get experiences
informations with ferrets.

Now update of Nahum :
He has had his first injection of Lupron on the 03 October08 : 100mcg
He has had an abdominal Ultrasound the 10 October08
He has had a second injection of Lupron today 31 october08 : 100mcg

I am still giving him liquid melatonin : 1.5g per day
Nahum's vet wanted that I reduce gradually the dose that I gave to
Nahum (2.25g)at 1g when Nahun had his first injection of Lupron.

The result of the Ultasound :

right adrenal: 1.1 x 1.2
left adrenal: 1.0 x 1.3

Nahum's symptoms :
His balding becomes more worse. Totally bald now on the end of his
back. And it was very very fast. In the time of 2 weeks after his
first shot of Lupron !

What I don't understand it is that the =BE of his tail has all his fur
back and very thick as never I have seen on Nahum. But the beginning
of his tail (fastened on his back) is bald as the end of his back.

Looking at his back fur, Nahum seems to not responding well to the
Lupron and melatonin.

Nahum's weight is 1kg and he is 5 years and 9 months old.

I am very afraid with a bilateral surgery. And Nahum's vet are not
certain that Nahum is the best candidat for this.

-About Lupron, do you think to increase the dosage will help ?
-About melatonin, do you think to increase the dosage will help ?
-Do you think that Nahum need more time than 1 month for to see the
results of Lupron ?

I am really stressed and I can't stop my tears. I have read many
posts and articles on the FHL and archives. I am afraid that I am too
late for treating Nahum. His adrenals glands are so big, and after
one month of his first injection of Lupron his fur symptoms are worse
except for 3/4 of his tail.

Thank you for helping
Marie-Agnes
