Well, there are various things that can happen with a leg that can cause a lump, and what
is done depends on those things. The possible causes range widely.

WHERE on the leg is it? Is it on the front or the back? What part of the leg?

How big is it?

Does it show up as anything on the outside? For example, is it scabby?

Has the ferret had a wound or injection at that location?

Is there an abscess?

Is there drainage and what is it like?

Is it on one side or both?

Is it hard or soft?

Other symptoms?

Is this ferret dealign with an infection anywhere?

Is this ferret eating well, playing well, etc. or have basics of
this individual's life changes and in what ways, if so?

Temperature above 103'F?

How long has it been going on?

So, you can't assume that just because two ferrets have leg
lumps that they have the same thing or will need the same tests,
but you should assume that there may be a need for testing of
some type or for treatment or both. That is just a normal part
of taking responsibility for any dependent creature.
