The best luck I've had with this medicine is that my vet mixes it with a pet tinic. It's dark brown in color, she said it has a malt flavor. I mix it with some chicken baby food and it goes down smoothly.

Flagyl is vile-tasting. Ferrets have been known to develop ulcers
from having to take it when it's not compounded. It is still pretty
unpleasant when it's compounded, but it's possible to get them to take
it, particularly if you give a "chaser": Draw the thing that tastes
good (marachino cherry syrup, ferretone, whatever works for you) up
into a little syringe. Then draw up the flagyl. Then draw up a
little more of the stuff that tastes good. Scruff the ferret and
squirt it in the side of the ferret's mouth. Have a treat ready for
when the ferret is done gagging. Any Walgreens can compound flagyl -
just tell them to use the regular human flavoring - no need for them
to use the tuna flavoring that their veterinary recipe uses. The
recipe is in their national database. Your vet will need to tell them
the concentration to compound it at. Good luck!
