Subject: [ferrethealth] considering getting a another ferret friend for louie

Since 2 of my babies passed away, Louie has been quite lonely, though
I give him extra attention. He is a older/middle aged guy who was
used to having buddies. Should I get another ferret for him? Though
I would rather rescue than buy, I have been looking at the ads for
ferrets needing homes. Most of the babies listed are young, if I were
to get another ferret, I would want one around the same age as Louie.
The one thing I noticed since he has been by himself, is that he is
now at a proper weight, while when he had his buddies, he let the
others bully him and he was getting skinny b/c he wasn't getting as
much food. This is my concern, if I got another one, would they push
him away from the food too?
BTW, my 2 babies died b/c I accidentally stepped on them. I feel
really horrible, they were sleeping under a fallen jacket and I wasn't
looking where I was walking and my foot landed hard on their little
bodies. I rushed them to the vet, but during the night they died.
Now, when Louie is out, I make sure there are no blankets or such that
he can crawl under. Would it do Louie good to get another ferret
buddy?
