What you've described is typical ferret behavior, not a behavioral
problem. What you're seeing is often referred to as the "weasel
wardance" (a ferrets way of saying "Yay, let's play!!"). Yes, believe
it or not, happy healthy ferrets normally act this way! lol

I wouldn't count on it settling, I have 7-8 year old ferrets that
still act this way. lol

I would suggest giving as much out of cage time as possible, try for
at least 4 hours per day, along with as much stimulation as you can
provide. Ferrets are very intelligent animals that really need to be
mentally as well as physically stimulated. Provide a good variety of
toys and play things (tubes are a favorite, boxes and bags are great
too) and be sure to spend as much time as possible interacting with
him yourself.

Oh, and watch your toes (if you don't know why I'm saying this
consider yourself lucky). ;)
