for him it is not an occasional thing that would signify a new

I had the same problem with mine when she was just on pred. I had a
hard time stabilizing her glucose for more than a few days at a time
and in 6 months time went from 0.1 ml to 0.75 ml. At that point, she
stabilized for about 2.5 weeks. Her glucose was 109, but she was
starting to have problems. I decided to put her on diazoxide...within
3 doses of 0.4 ml diazoxide and 0.5 ml pred twice a day, her legs
stopped locking up on her and she stopped slipping on the floor. By 6
doses, she was starting to run again and not having any "bad" days.
The diazoxide is expensive: here(Ohio), compounded it was $45 for 24
ml which was 30 days worth at 0.4 ml. We increased her diazoxide to
0.5 and decreased the pred to 0.35 (because she absolutely hates the
pred) and the 30 ml prescription was $50. Cost is all relative, to me
$50 a month is better than rushing her to the vet because she is
crashing and it gives me peace of mind and joy to see her running and
playing with her cagemates. I would ask the vet and/or shelter if you
can add the diazoxide to him. Mine had some signs of neurological
problems before I added the diazoxide and those seemed to have
lessened and even disappeared to an extent. I wish I had pursued the
diazoxide sooner since it seems to have done wonders for her.
