OK, so he does NOT have any bad poop and never has. He is tired and
does not eat on his own. You are giving him a good soup of Carnivore
Care/Marshalls and he eats well very well every 4 or 5 hours. Very
nice work on the nursing care!
Usually, the meds you mention are given for ulcers and elimination of
helicobacter bacteria.
With carafate, the timing is very important. It patches ulcers. So,
you give it on an empty stomach, it sticks to the ulcer, and then the
ferret can eat with less pain. I'd give it maybe a half hour before
each feeding. You're probably already doing this, but it is worth
mentioning.
Did he ever grind his teeth when eating or thinking about eating?
This usually sounds like a rhythmic little "snick, snick, snick"
sound, and it means belly pain. They usually squint their eyes and
you can see their jaw working in time with the "snick" noise. I'm
trying to understand why he is on these particular medications. As
you definitely know, the flagyl is so stressful to them that we want
to make sure there is a good reason for giving it.
We'll look forward to whatever results from blood panels are possible
to send along to the list. While the full panel is ideal and really
needed, is there a chance you can type in any values that are outside
of normal range? It would be easiest to read them if each value was
on its own line.
Hang in there. We're pulling for Nic Nac.
