Subject: [ferrethealth] Liver health supplements
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
There are some products that I think would be worthwhile to bring to your a=
ttention, as=A0 some are fairly new.=A0 Nutramax Labs makes Denosyl, Marin,=
and Denomarin.=A0 Denosyl is to help the liver repair itself, and contains=
SAMe.=A0 Marin contains the active ingredient from milk thistle, and is in=
tended to help the liver maintain function.=A0 And Denomarin contains both.=
=A0 The manufacturer=A0has conducted clinical studies to support their prod=
ucts.
=A0
I talked with the manufacturer a few moments ago about administering it, as=
it only comes in tablets.=A0 She said to give a whole tablet (of the cat=
=A0version)=A0at a time, instead of 1/4 as I had been, because the excess w=
ill not harm the ferret, and you lose 20% of the product=A0by having to mix=
it with water.=A0
=A0
I currently=A0have the Denosyl, but will order some Marin to go along with =
it, and then when we run out of those two, will switch to the combo product=
.=A0 They are available from places like 1-800-pet-meds.=A0 Denomarin is ne=
w, just released in the last year, so=A0many vets may not be aware of=A0it =
or carry it.=A0 I=A0plan to give=A0this to both=A0Baby and Ripper (who=A0st=
ill has a low hematocrit following the adrenal-disorder-instigated hepatiti=
s=A0that started last=A0Summer.)=A0 =A0
Best regards,
F.
