Hi Mackenzie,

An alternative arrangement would be to get the liquid pred - then you
can decrease the dose gradually to an optimum level. This is what my
vet does. I started at the high dose and decreased it by 0.0l mL
every 48 hours. OR you can start at a lower dose and incremently
increase it to an optimum level that controls the clinical symptoms.
Perhaps your vet might consider these alternative options if you
discuss it with him.

If you email me privately I can send you a recent paper by Chen
(2008) that suggests "Doses of 0.25 to 2 mg/kg by mouth every
12 hours have been used. Many clinicians start at a low dose and
increase the dose incrementally as needed to control clinical
symptoms (p. 113)."
