Subject: [ferrethealth] No idea what's going on here...
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I'll start with the basics. I got my ferret Willy in December of last
year. Shortly after he was diagnosed with insulinoma and adrenal
disease. We put him on prednisone and lupron, everything was going
well. Then his prostate got so enlarged that one day he couldn't
urinate, so emergency catheter insertion. A few months ago he had a
left adrenalectomy done and they were able to remove the entire gland.
His hair is growing back nicely. Unfortunately, we found out that
the tumor was malignant, but the vet said all the other organs were
looking normal when he was removing the adrenal gland. However, his
insulinoma has gotten much worse. We were at 0.08, now we're at 0.12.
My vet also added 0.5 mL of carafate because his poop has been weird.
It was really runny and horrid smelling. Now it's firmed up a little
but it's this...weird light brown color and it's very grainy looking.
I will post a picture as soon as he poops, in the meantime I'll post
a picture under Willy's Poop that most closely resembles what his
looks like. He also has a chicken allergy, so his diet basically
consists of a blended mixture of Nature's Variety frozen raw diets,
the rabbit, venison, and lamb varieties. He has access to kibble, and
I feed Innova Evo Red Meat small bites. I'm not sure what could be
going on at this point and I'm just really worried. I live in ND so
there aren't any "ferret" vets here, so I'm doing the best I can with
what I've got. Any ideas or anything would be appreciated, thanks!
