Just as with people some ferrets are gracile (Think ballerina.)
and some are robust (Think Olympic Weight Lifter.)

Some individuals gain fat easily and some stay thin on a hefty
diet. We have a friend who is a fashion model, rail thin, who
eats about 3,000 Calories per day but is genetically thin like
her parents and sibling. That also is true for ferrets. Some
gain fat easily, some stay thin but eat well.

If a ferret changes on that regard then possible causes need to
be considered, or if there are negative health symptoms then
a medical evaluation is essential.

You'll be getting a veterinary evaluation anyway, since these are
new ferrets, so mention this to the vet so that the vet can make
sure nothing is wrong.
