It's important to understand the difference between "thin" and "thin".
LOL

We all know thin people. They have a very slim build but look
healthy. It's just naturally how they are.

Then, there are people who are thin but are not healthy. They don't
look healthy. They are bony looking, thier face looks sunken, etc.
There is a huge difference.

The same with ferrets. A thin build is fine as long as there's good
muscle tone and everything is proportionate. But, a thin build, with
no muscle tone and bones sticking out everywhere is NOT good.

If there are other ferrets you can compare this one to, you can get a
feel for the differences. If not, your vet certainly can make an
educated judgement call. If the ferret is unhealthy thin, there are
some things you can do to put weight on. If the ferret is normally
thin, no amount of food will put on weight.

Hope this isn't too confusing, but I think you get the gist of it.
