Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: growths on his head
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I posted previously about the small growth on my ferrets head, but got
no responses. Looking through the archives, this old post below
suggests 3 possibilities:

- sebaceous epithelioma
- scent gland cyst
- salivary mucocele

I have posted pics in an album called "Growth on head".

Any ideas if any of the 3 suggestions above look like my ferrets growth?

BACKGROUND:
He has had the growth for over 6 months and it does not appear to be
itchy or cause discomfort when touched. It has not grown and he has
not shown any other symptoms.
A couple of times since I have noticed it, it has been red with a
small amount of dried blood on it. I believe this happens after he
scratches that area, although I have never seen him scratch it. We
have had a bout of fleas (even though he is on revolution) so I
believe that's why he has scratched his head.

He will be going to the vet next month, but I wanted to get some ideas
here first, in case my vet is unsure.

Thanks,
Kate
