Based on my experiences this would be my thought as well. I've had a
number of ferrets with stools that looked very similar to the photo's
posted, some also had a very strong odor, some also blood off and on.
We went through the allergy possibility (removing chicken, corn wheat,
etc). We ran every test, all came back clear. In the end, the cause in
all was intestinal cancer. This is something that may not show on any
test until it's very late stage. By the time mine were diagnosed they
were in their final days. Not that early detection would have made a
difference, as it isn't something that's treatable.
