Subject: [ferrethealth] Nexus' skin tumor pathology report
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Just an update on my 7 year old who had two skin tumors removed three
weeks ago. We went back to vet yesterday to get stitches removed and
the report said "sebaceous epithelioma." He said it could grow back
but it would take awhile. He said Nexus was doing well for an old guy.
Yes, ferret treatment is no longer reasonable. It cost $125 for the
pathology on one skin tumor. I'm glad I didn't send the other one out
for testing. He sent the worst looking one. The whole bill for the
surgery was $747. When I got Nexus I began saving quarters.
Unfortunately, I had to break into that stash when my goat got sick
and needed surgery. I had saved about $650 in quarters. My suggestion
is to start saving when you get an animal for its later years. But,
sometimes a young animal can require urgent medical attention like the
goat who had two surgeries and ended up passing. Fortunately, since
I've been going to my vet for many years, he allows payment plans for
people he knows.
