I hope you meant to write that the vet did not want to give
prednisone.
Prednisone is processed by the liver and produces prednisolone.
Prednisolone can be given directly thus eliminating this liver
processing step.
Check with the vet exactly what she said/meant, prednisolone is often
given to ferrets with compromised livers for this reason.
