I understand that prednisolone is more effective than prednisone when
the liver is not functioning optimally. What I do not understand is
whether the liver has to work harder - in an absolute sense - when
prednisolone is given. It seems like you're saying that you have never
seen anything on that to either support or deny the proposition,
although I am quite tired and may be misreading (if so, I apologize).

Is it possible that your

No. She has been published on ferret medical issues (don't want to be
specific b/c don't want to violate the vet ID rule) and she is a
skilled enough surgeon to do a successful vena cava ligation for an
adrenal gland removal. She also correctly diagnosed Ripper with a
very rare type of hepatitis caused by adrenal hormones based on an
x-ray showing the stomach was enlarged and not draining (diagnosis
supported through biopsy), which is something that I have never seen
in the archives or other commonly known ferret literature. Before
seeing her, he had been treated for weeks by another vet that is
generally considered very knowledgeable (for our geographic area),
with no diagnosis and no improvement.
